Emerging Evidence Highlighting the Importance of Redox Dysregulation in the Pathogenesis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

چکیده

The cellular redox state, or balance between oxidation and reduction reactions, serves as a vital antioxidant defence system that is linked to all important activities. Redox regulation therefore fundamental process for aerobic organisms. Whilst oxidative stress well described in neurodegenerative disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), other aspects of dysfunction their contributions pathophysiology are only just emerging. ALS fatal disease affecting motor neurons, with few useful treatments. Hence there an urgent need develop more effective therapeutics the future. Here, we discuss increasing evidence dysregulation primary contributor pathogenesis, which associated multiple mechanisms. Understanding connection homeostasis, proteins mediate regulation, ALS, may facilitate better understanding mechanisms, lead design therapeutic strategies.
